In 2003, Corvette was celebrating its 50th Anniversary to commemorate the event Chevrolet used the number 50 for the Anniversary and 53 for the number of cars that were produced in the first year of production, Chevrolet also changed the colors of the teams to a predominantly blue car with white and red accent stripes. Andy Pilgrim, Kelly Collins, and Oliver Gavin were no strangers to the endurance classic, and they knew it would be a brutal and long race for the Corvette team. The #50 Corvette fought an incredible battle throughout the race. At one point in the vent the team took a blow and was hit and spun but still managed to pull off an impressive second place finish, and taking 11th place in the overall field.
